Light frost Bitt 2NW valley. At 7 a.m most locations were mid 40s, breezy. Valley at Bitt 2NW remained calm and 34°.  Easterly winds and high clouds built in during the day.

South of Garrett had clouds build in prior to midnight, temps began rising…Garrett and north remained clear.

  Some pictures to illustrate how we are advancing into the fall season. The first widespread valley frost and freeze occuring on the 10th. Leaves on the high bogs, and cooler areas are advancing. In large, the hillsides are in the early stages of change, the bogs, and colder spots are further along. Areas that are predominantly oak, are predominantly green. Typical, and that will remain green yet for weeks to a month before they start. The hillsides in Canaan are on the verge of a major color change. The hints of color are all over. The cold nights should help speed it up.

Sky conditions remained cloudy last night across Garrett. Low level fog built in before daybreak at some point. Midnight temps held at 50°, daybreak temp at the Glades was 42°. In the 12-6 a.m time window, temp fell under brief optimal conditions to 34. Bitt 2NW valley at daybreak held 36°

Temps at Alder rose to 35° by 6:30a.m with easterly breezes over the Allegheny Front. Canaan remained 29° on the valley floor yet at 7:45a.m.
