Temps locally in Garrett ranged this afternoon from near freezing at Savage Mt to 40s wv/md line. I always think of this as the “Garrett County Equalizer” . What I mean by that: The western areas of the county, Keysers Ridge, Snaggy Mt, Cranesville area, do much better with upslope snows. Over the course of a winter, this area likely doubles what Savage Mt recieved despite nearly the same elevation, and not much in the way of downslope. There are instances with upslope at times this does not occur, but not often. As the west areas will outsnow this area of Savage Mt, The Savage Mt area will remain colder afterwards when the return SW flow kicks in. Today is a good example and these photos will help illustrate thathires_t2m_wv_7

The 3km nam which does well at modeling this.
