overall theme, really area wide is- maple areas have peaked, brief, not as vibrant as last year, with exceptions of nice spots. Maples give the best vibrance, with them gone, the birches currently hold great color. Not a widespread dominant species, more in the cooler stream, river bottoms. Beaches have some rusty color, as well as some drop. Aspen, not widespread had good color in Bigtooth, but quaking is lagging and that was the opposite last year as it dropped first. Likely due to being more cold sensitive. Lots of hillsides dominated by oak, and those in large have a green with a bit of brown and a brownish yellow tinge.

Hillsides in large Oak dominated..lots of green. Mix in maple there is some color, also some bare maples, birch areas have good color, not a widespread dominate species. But in areas they are in abundant, and mixed with maples yet holding, there are nice color pockets..Cherry is mostly bare, with some spotty green, yellow/red…

The birches are peaking with their bright golden yellow. The maples, while lots of fell already, there are pockets of good color. Pockets of completely bare areas. The beech are doing what beech does, the golden rusty colors, with some holding green.

Colors across the top are well past prime. Just last week the birch on the north side of Weiss had a ways to go for good color, this week, most are down. There are patches of good maple color. Again, a case of bare and spotty nice areas.. the hillside walking up had a few superb spots. That still doesn’t outweigh the bare and thinned trees.
