Forest Service Cam offline since 6/24/21

After a brilliant red sky sunrise the skies rapidly clouded over, a bone chilling southeast wind was in place. Snow broke out mid to late morning with a rapid covering and from then on it was a Snow, sleet, Snow , sleet, freezing rain transitioning every hour. Roadways very treacherous with the sleet, as it wants to pull you once you get off the tracks in place.

*- all stations below except Bittinger 2nw Valley, Canaan Heights/Davis 3SE COOP- the only 7am to 7am site included here, and Elkins. The rest are tipping bucket precip gauges. During below freezing weather precip totals at those sites will not be accurate

Ice accretion picked up some after 5pm, neared a tenth of a inch by the end of the main precip shield well after 5pm

” Clouding over during the night with temperatures slowly rising through the 20s. Light snow commenced 935AM, temp 31F.
10AM update: Very light snow and 31F.
1145AM: A period of moderate snow between 10AM and 11AM, now light freezing rain and 30F. New snow 0.3 in.
1PM: Light freezing rain and 28F “
