January 5, 2025 6:42am
■Round 3 on the surface map this morning off to our west.

■ Plenty of cold air in place out ahead of the system.
- Temps single digits for many this morning

- Windchills across the high exposed WV tops running -20 to -25 this morning

■🌬 The winds will begin to slack off as we go through the afternoon and evening today.
■ Round 3 pushing in tonight has a large area under winter storm warnings.

■ NWS SNOWFALL EXPECTATIONS
- Expected Snowfall

- High end potential

- Low end potential

*Those maps run through Tuesday. After the main event passes by overnight in to Monday, snows will linger through Monday night in to Tuesday and really with the large upslope snow, snow activity goes through the week. Primary focus for the biggest impact is overnight and Monday
■ Model Outlook
- 6z EURO. There is the slightest risk as precip lightens a very brief opportunity for some sleet pellets to mix in, in areas can occur. A limited feature of the event, but potentially an aspect to watch. Especially areas south and west. Areas west of the Alleghenies may even mix in a touch of freezing rain. The main brunt though should remain snow for most.
- 6z Euro Snowfall
- 6z GFS(often overdone on mix)
- 6z GFS Snowfall
Updates posted as needed today, tonight. Stay prepared for a long cold winter week(s) ahead.
