Spruce Knob Edition May 22-23 2025

Spruce Knob, the West Virginia highpoint at 4863′. Maxing out at 44.9 and 39.1 the last 2 days.

●Driving up during the evening of May 22nd. Temperatures near 50 at Riverton and in the upper 30s once I reached the top of Spruce Knob.

●May 23, 2025

Sleeping at Spruce Knob overnight. Showers, fog persisted along with strong gusty west winds. Beyond midnight, a gradual mixing of ice pellets began to occur as on and off pockets of precipitation passed through.

Starting out the day with a walk around The Whispering Spruce Trail

Temps were running around 34°, with gusty winds

●Ice pellets and also some softer white snowl Iike pellets.

The fog and wind continued across the top

Starting down the west side on top. The low cloud deck was showing some breaks.
