A day for the record books. A very cold air mass established at the surface. Warmer aloft. This lead to freezing rain well down south, tremendous sleet in this region as well as snow , sleet and a hefty snow storm not far north of the Mason Dixon Line.

** The first 7″ of snow from this event before changover occured with nearly a 10 to 1 ratio. The sleet ran around a 2 to 1 ratio. Sleet mostly occured for the duration with temps between 4 to 12°. The coldest I have seen sleet, and the heaviest precip mass with those temperatures I’ve seen. While not all snow with whopping tallies, a very impressive event.
