A chilly start to the weekend, but typical to what you would expect for early December with widespread 20s. Temps modifying through the night after some valleys early last night dropped in to the single digits and below 0. The High Elevation Bog on the Sods at Dobbins dipping below 0 briefly. Then as winds came in enough to disturb the radiational cooling and the cold air that developed at the surface, the rubber band snap back to the actual air mass temps in place.

Other valleys:

Cloud cover rolling in out ahead of the next weather maker thats set to come in later today. A quick moving potent clipper system thats has warranted Winter Storm Warnings across the area and in fact a large area through today in to tonight

Some overlapping Cold Weather Warnings in Pocahontas/Randolph as well. Those too will expand as well as we head in to tomorrow.

A general widespread 4-8″ Alleghenies and west, those amount tail off rapidly as you work east. A narrow Jet Streak may enhance totals further east towards the DC,Baltimore area.

The main period of snow is late today in to tonight. Sunday will be a day of day of residual snow falling, and any moisture in the air tomorrow will be coming down as pixie dust with the very cold air in place. Sunday temps in to the single digits. Winds gusty and this can create white out and “blizzard like” key word “like” conditions at times.

Sunday afternoon temps: some Wv tops at and below 0

Windchills: Widespread -5 to -15° windchills with -15 to -30° Wv tops.
